The India – Monument: From Local Visibility Problems to Measurable Results
The India – Monument is an Indian restaurant in London that had a problem many restaurant owners experience:
the food and reputation were there, but Google wasn’t consistently putting the restaurant in front of potential customers.
When we started working with the restaurant, its local search visibility was inconsistent.
Competitors were appearing above the restaurant for relevant searches, the Google Business Profile was not fully optimised,
and bookings coming through Google were lower than they could have been.
The goal wasn’t simply to improve rankings.
The goal was to turn Google visibility into actions that matter to a restaurant: menu views, calls and bookings.
The Challenge
Before the campaign, The India – Monument was dealing with several local search challenges:
- Poor local search visibility
- Inconsistent rankings
- Competitors appearing above the restaurant
- Low booking activity from Google
- An incomplete and under-optimised Google Business Profile
- Missed opportunities from people searching for Indian restaurants nearby
For a restaurant, this matters because a customer searching for an Indian restaurant nearby is often much closer
to making a purchasing decision than someone simply browsing general information online.
Improving Local Search Visibility
We worked on improving the restaurant’s overall local search presence rather than relying on a single SEO tactic.
This included the Google Business Profile, website, local relevance, content and other signals that contribute to
how a restaurant is understood and displayed in local search.

What We Did
The campaign focused on strengthening the restaurant’s entire local search presence.
Rather than treating the Google Business Profile and website as separate assets,
we worked on them together to build stronger relevance around the restaurant, its location and the services it provides.
Google Business Profile optimisation
- Business information and profile completeness
- Primary and secondary category optimisation
- Services and menu information
- Business description optimisation
- Photo and visual content optimisation
- Google Posts
- Review strategy
- Local relevance and entity signals
- Ongoing Google Business Profile optimisation
Website SEO
- On-page SEO
- Local keyword targeting
- Entity-focused content
- Internal linking
- Location relevance
- Website structure improvements
- Supporting content for local search visibility
- Competitor analysis
The Strategy
Build stronger local relevance → improve visibility → give searchers more reasons to choose the restaurant
→ turn that visibility into calls, menu views and bookings.
The Results
The impact became particularly clear when comparing April and May 2026 with the same period the previous year.
212 Bookings From Google
During April and May 2026, The India – Monument received
212 bookings directly from its Google Business Profile.
That’s a 38.6% increase compared with April–May 2025.
Google Business Profile Performance
| Metric | April–May 2026 | Year-on-year change |
|---|---|---|
| Bookings | 212 | +38.6% |
| Calls | 289 | +4.3% |
| Menu views | 1,503 | +12.9% |
289 Calls From Google
The restaurant also generated 289 calls directly from its Google Business Profile
during the two-month period.
That’s a 4.3% increase compared with the same period the previous year.
For a restaurant, a call can represent a customer checking availability, asking about the menu,
discussing dietary requirements, making a reservation or deciding whether to visit.

1,503 Menu Views
The restaurant’s menu content was viewed 1,503 times during April and May 2026.
That’s a 12.9% increase compared with the same period the previous year.
For restaurants, menu engagement is an important part of the customer journey.
Someone who finds the restaurant on Google can move from discovery to checking the menu
and then to calling or making a booking.

What 212 Bookings Could Mean for the Restaurant
The India – Monument’s average customer spend is approximately
£20–£30 per head.
However, a Google booking represents a table rather than necessarily one individual diner,
so it would be misleading to multiply 212 bookings directly by £20–£30 and call that revenue.
What we can say is that every additional diner generated through those bookings represents
approximately £20–£30 in average customer spend.
The important point: the 212 bookings represent measurable customer
actions generated through Google — not simply impressions or rankings.
The Bigger Lesson for Restaurant Owners
Restaurant SEO shouldn’t be about collecting rankings and impressions that don’t translate into business.
The important question is:
What happens after someone finds your restaurant on Google?
In this case, the customer journey looked like this:
Google Search
↓
Google Business Profile
↓
Menu / Restaurant Information
↓
Call or Booking
↓
Potential Restaurant Customer
That’s why our approach focuses on the entire local search journey rather than treating rankings
as the final objective.
Why This Matters for Indian Restaurants
Many Indian restaurant owners are doing some form of digital marketing already.
They may have a website, reviews, social media pages and a Google Business Profile.
But having these assets isn’t the same as having them work together.
Your Google Business Profile, website, reviews, menu, location signals, content and local relevance
should all reinforce the same restaurant entity.
That’s the approach we used with The India – Monument.
The Result
In April and May 2026, The India – Monument generated:
212 Google Bookings
+38.6% year over year
Along with 289 calls and 1,503 menu views from the Google Business Profile.
